How Is Merlua Extra Virgin Olive Oil Made?
Merula is produced by Don Alonso, the Marques de Valduezza on his Perales de Valdueza estate in Extremadura, western Spain. The oil presented in a superbly designed, award winning tin is a distinctive blend of four olive varieties: Arbequina (50%), Hojiblanca (20%), Piqual (15%) and the very rare and only grown in Extremadua, Marisca (15%).
Merula means blackbird in Latin and derives from the many blackbirds that fly around the Marque’s magnificent estate.
